Hakim & Slater are an independent Publishing House based in Whitstable, Kent. We opened in August 2008 with the aid of funds released when the seminal 'Urban Fox Press' was dissolved. We create limited edition books, cards and artworks of the highest quality using recycled paper and traditional creative techniques such as hand stamping, woodcutting and pinhole photography. Each book cover carries a stamp detailing batch/series number and date, ensuring that each item is unique.
Much of the paper used in our products is hand-made on the premises using a mixture of general waste paper and household items' packaging. All of our staff are volunteers. Because of this we are able to invest 100% of the profits from our work into charitable purposes, both in the UK and overseas, details of which you can find in the 'Projects' section. |
